We are a volunteer organization who understands and has served the Moose Jaw business community since 1888/1889. Our strength is the diversity and talents of our membership. We are the business organization which is the self image of the Moose Jaw business community. Our core values are economic, ethical, and social responsibility in the further development of the commercial and economic potential of Moose Jaw and region. Our industry is community economic development and our role is to promote and foster condition towards building a solid business climate in Moose Jaw and region. Governmental policies based on sound economic principals will receive our support, but we acknowledge the legislators must choose the best course for our city, region, and province. However, we will vigorously oppose those policies and programs detrimental to our membership and Moose Jaw business community.

Presidents Message

While Saskatchewan and Moose Jaw have felt some impact from the global recession, there are sign of recovery. Our population and economy are growing. Saskatchewan has become a “have” province. A spirit of optimism and enthusiasm for the future is evident.

As the 2010-11 President of the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce, I hope the Moose Jaw business community can build on that optimism and enthusiasm. A labour shortage can be addressed not only by engaging our youth in meaningful employment, but by considering workforce re-entry of retirees and capitalizing on the burgeoning resources of Aboriginal population. The entrepreneurial spirit of these same groups can grow our business community. Collaboration with municipal and provincial governments can build tax and regulatory policy that facilitates economic growth and sustains a positive business environment.

The Chamber keeps the public abreast of upcoming local events. As a self-sustaining organization and the voice of business in Moose Jaw and area, we are able to advocate all levels of government for new and innovative solutions to improve the economic climate for business, and thereby the entire community. We offer our members access to web design and hosting, financial and merchant services. Member events provide a forum for networking. With every contact comes an opportunity to learn about a new project or business, to partner for mutual benefit, to share ideas for growth, to connect with people who share our vision of a vibrant, welcoming and forward-looking community.

For over 120 years, Moose Jaw & District has been well-served by its Chamber of Commerce. I would like to convey my appreciation to outgoing Chamber President, Dale Renz for his outstanding leadership. I am committed to continuing that service excellence and appreciate the opportunity to lead the Board and membership for the coming year.

In an effort to continually deliver excellence to our members, the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce recently went through a rigorous accreditation process.

We are proud to inform you that the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce has been awarded the designation of accredited chamber of commerce by the Chamber Accreditation Council of Canada.  This designation confirms that we have satisfied stringent performance requirements.

As a result of successfully completing this process, you can rest assured that your chamber has been recognized as an effective, responsible and well-managed organization that is making a difference in our community and working hard on behalf of the businesses and people of Moose Jaw.

Chambers of commerce have a long and proud tradition of improving the business climate in whatever region of the world in which they operate. Across Canada, in every federal riding, our extensive network speaks up on behalf of businesses, keeping your issues at the forefront and ensuring that ‘The Voice of Business’ remains loud and strong, whether working on an issue that is local, provincial (territorial), national or international in scope.Moose Jaw & District Accredited Chamber of Commerce

Over the years, other groups have sprung up, at times forcing chambers to clarify or even justify their role and mandate. The accreditation process not only provides that clarification, but also ensures a standard in practices and processes across the network, clarifying our mandate while protecting and strengthening our brand. This in turn benefits you by adding value to your membership and creating peace of mind towards your business’s yearly membership investment.

You can be as proud as we are that the chamber has been awarded this new distinction. It demonstrates that we run our business in the same manner as you run yours: with rigor, focus, conviction and success.  Furthermore, having met the accreditation challenge, we pledge to uphold those standards and continue to operate our chamber in a truly effective and professional fashion.

On your behalf, we will continue to forge a positive business climate that will benefit business and our whole community.
The Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce is “The Voice of Business” and the business organization to belong to in Moose Jaw.

Help us spread the word!
