thumb_Small_Business_Tradeshow_Oct_2010_002Small Business Week kicked off in Moose Jaw with an open house/trade fair organized by students in the Junior Achievement program at Peacock Collegiate.

“This is a great kick-off to small business week,” Brian Martynook, executive director of the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce, said during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

“Supporting entrepreneurs in their innovative businesses are key to Moose Jaw’s economic growth.

“Entrepreneurs continue to be a primary force in driving the local economy.”

More than 60 small business set up booths for Small Business Week, which ran until Oct. 23.

MP for Palliser Ray Boughen told the small business gathered at the event that Moose Jaw is the place to be. “Moose Jaw takes great pride in being home to many small and new business and those that bring their expertise and individual talents to the small business world.

“Our city continues to be the ideal location for many small business sectors as they are the backbone of the Moose Jaw economy, “For more than 105 years, Moose Jaw has defined itself as a place to do business,” he said.

Teacher Barbara McKinnon supported the Junior Achievement class to help organize the event.
